GREAT SKIING!!!!

Just finished grooming (both classical and skate skiing) the Russian River Campground trails. Get out and enjoy the "spring" conditions; they're great!!

Skate skiing is incredible today! Crusty, fast fun in the sun. Get it while you can.

Sweet Skiing

Just finished grooming all the Russian River Campground Trails and loops including the "new" trail. A track has been set throughout. It's great skate and clasical skiing. Get out while the conditions are good!
For you walkers and snow-shoers, please stay to one side or the other of the groomed trails and please avoid the set track. It helps the groomers. Thanks!

RRGC Trails in good shape!!!

Just finished grooming the Russian River Campground; main trail to Grayling has been packed and a track has been set. Great for both classical and skate skiing. Campground loops weren't groomed today but are still skiable for both classical and skate. Enjoy the conditions while we have them!!

Feb 16th...Just finished grooming the Russiqn River Camp Ground Trails...All loops have been groomed and a track has been set. Let's hope the conditions stay cool. Get out and enjoy the groomed trails...They're in good shape

The Base is Back...for now.

Get your freshies while you can. Temps are rising and the corduroy may not last so grab your skis and head to the Russian. All loops are groomed and in great condition. You should still watch out for icy patches under tree wells and on the first hill of the main road. Enjoy.

SRD Trails Report

Quite a mix of conditions across Seward Ranger District at the moment.

 

Lost Lake Trail: NOT RECOMMENDED for travel unless you have studs on shoes or tracks, lots of ice, even on the summer trail that bypasses the steep trail out of the parking lot.Primrose Trail is fair, though very bumpy.

 

Slaughter Ridge, Resurrection Creek (Hope), West Juneau, Russian River C.G., and Snug Harbor Rd beyond mile 5 are difficult to travel due to slick ice. The 2- 4 inches of new snow has not helped the icy conditions.

 

Carter, Johnson North and South are in good condition, standing water is frozen, though overflow varies from day to day and is a constant concern to be aware of when traveling over frozen water, including muskegs/meadows that are used as winter trails.

 

Resurrection North and South, Bean Creek, and Lower Russian Lake Trails are a little better for skiing with the few inches of new snow on top of the hard packed surface, though access roads are icy getting to all of these areas.

 

Exit Glacier Road is in good condition and does not sport the icy conditions at the moment.

 

Trail River C.G. RD  is in very good condition for skiing.
