Lou said it's currently snowing like it means it, but Devils is all packed in and combed out.

Enjoy the snows!

Powerline to Crescent TH and CG is groomed. There are classic tracks set on most of it. There are a number of snow loaded leaners low over the road. One tree is down on the road with enough of a hand cut gap to get the groomer through.

Happy Holidays! Spread some joy sliding over snow!

Devils got its first comb with the new groomer and Lou left it looking good. Enjoy the weekend!

Thank you to Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm Heritage Area (https://kmtacorridor.org ) for community grant funding and to Janette Cadieux and Theo Lexmond for the matching donation to procure a new lightweight groomer for our program.

The inaugural trip of our new Tidd Tech Trail Tenderizer was the reconditioning of the powerline to Crescent Trailhead and the first groom of the year for the Crescent Campground.

This groomer will spend most of its time at Devils where it will be easier on our volunteers' personal snow machines and allow for more frequent reconditioning.

Get out there and enjoy the trails and let us know how you like the new rig!

Chris rolled the freshies at Devils today. Get out there and enjoy!

This is a real drag. It is big, heavy, and dumb which are qualities that help when faced with reconditioning a groomed base that has been driven on by a wheeled vehicle.

Wheeled vehicle traffic on a groomed base is also a real drag. Vehicles are big and heavy and...frequently get stuck when driving a road that has not been plowed.

People need firewood and harvesting part of two trees appears to be the reason at least one vehicle took this trip. They made it further than most do but still left evidence of the time they spent extracting themselves.

Whether the firewood folk were the same as those who stole our orange cones and handwritten sign that were the only indication of the deep snow ahead, we may never know.

What we do know is that road to Crescent is back to being skiable - if a little rough around the edges.

Are you looking to escape from the dark, cold, icy valley? Well, look no further! Devils trails have an abundance of freshly rolled powder just waiting for you and your friends! Love, Lou

Lou and Chris packed the trails at Devils yesterday and rolled and dragged them today. Get out and enjoy them!

The powerline to Crescent Trailhead is rolled, compacted, and dragged. It isn't perfection but it is a solid base to build from. The campground loop is still undisturbed powder and a lot of downed trees so we will try to tackle them soon.
Happy Sunday skiing!

After dealing with power outages and digging ourselves out like the rest of south central, we got out today to prep Crescent.

We cleared 20+ trees downed from the snows. Big shout out to Martha, Kevin, and Jessie for post holing to swamp limbs and logs for the afternoon.

More to come. The 2023-2024 snow grooming season is here!

A big thank you to Lou, Jake and Amanda, Janette and Theo, David and Martha, and Neil for coming out on the last day of September to brush at Devils. A big thanks to the Seward Ranger District Trails crew for finishing up the remainder of the loop later in the week. Everyone's efforts helped prep the majority of the main loop so that when snow flies, we are ready to groom. The 2023-2024 season is just around the corner!

Crescent is in. The road from the powerline to the trailhead got the drag and the Ginzu and skate skiers should get it while it lasts.

The race loop got knocked down with the drag and should be good for classic.

Have a great week!

Lou got grooming and a show last night. The new fresh is knocked down and ready for the weekend at Devils.

Don't forget to check out the Seward Nordic events at Divide and the Gateway this weekend!

The recent winds left Devils with some drifting but Lou has knocked it back for the weekend. Enjoy!

Friday, February 24, 2023

We got the Ginzu groomer up to Devils for the first time this season. Thank you to Amanda for the help loading equipment and the tandem rolling, to Lou for loaning the second machine, and to Alaska Wildland Adventures for the Tommy Gate truck to haul with. The main trail surface is reconditioned and looking good. Enjoy the weekend!

Powerline to Crescent and the Race Loop are rolled/compacted. Corduroy to come soon. Feller/buncher is back in the neighborhood. Give'm some room and enjoy the snow!

Friday, February 03, 2023

Devils has a fresh comb as of last night. Thanks Lou! Enjoy the weekend.

Friday, January 27, 2023

Chris took the drag over Devils today. It is a little cooler at 15 degrees up there than closer to CL or MP. Enjoy!

Monday, January 23, 2023

Powerline to Crescent campground is still single lane snow and single lane road.

Campground to the trailhead is groomed.

A wayward vehicle's tracks and the exit tracks of the feller/buncher tracks are mostly reconditioned.

Snow is wet and dense so get it early. It could be the best skate here this season.

Feller buncher returns soon so don't sleep on Crescent. Have fun!

There were a lot of folk loving the freshies at Devils today so Lou gave it a refresh this evening. Sunday should be set up nicely.
