Powerline to Crescent TH and CG is groomed. There are classic tracks set on most of it. There are a number of snow loaded leaners low over the road. One tree is down on the road with enough of a hand cut gap to get the groomer through.
Happy Holidays! Spread some joy sliding over snow!

Thank you to Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm Heritage Area (https://kmtacorridor.org ) for community grant funding and to Janette Cadieux and Theo Lexmond for the matching donation to procure a new lightweight groomer for our program.
The inaugural trip of our new Tidd Tech Trail Tenderizer was the reconditioning of the powerline to Crescent Trailhead and the first groom of the year for the Crescent Campground.
This groomer will spend most of its time at Devils where it will be easier on our volunteers' personal snow machines and allow for more frequent reconditioning.
Get out there and enjoy the trails and let us know how you like the new rig!

This is a real drag. It is big, heavy, and dumb which are qualities that help when faced with reconditioning a groomed base that has been driven on by a wheeled vehicle.
Wheeled vehicle traffic on a groomed base is also a real drag. Vehicles are big and heavy and...frequently get stuck when driving a road that has not been plowed.
People need firewood and harvesting part of two trees appears to be the reason at least one vehicle took this trip. They made it further than most do but still left evidence of the time they spent extracting themselves.
Whether the firewood folk were the same as those who stole our orange cones and handwritten sign that were the only indication of the deep snow ahead, we may never know.
What we do know is that road to Crescent is back to being skiable - if a little rough around the edges.
